You may think the East and Hudson Rivers are just places over or under which you must traverse to get to the epicenter of the financial world, but today we learned that these angry waters can be navigated by sailboat! With Sue and I (and Joey for a brief time) at the helm, we spent Labor Day on Brad's "boat share", and it was a perfect day for it. The 5 of us sailed to the Statue of Liberty, around the tip of Manhattan, and back to Chelsea Piers.Joey especially loved the waves, cracking up whenever a big yacht went by creating waves for our boat. He had also never really had wind in his face, and he laughed and tried to catch the air with his hands ever time we got up past 10 knots.
While this shows evidence of Joe as Helmsman, most of the steering was done by Sue and me. (Shout out to Brad, who is an awesome teacher--it was my first time ever sailing!)
Thanks, Aunt Sue and Uncle Brad--we had a blast today!
PS - Mom and Kirby, don't worry, we kept Joey's bald head in the shade except for one picture. The only other time he was in the sun when he was wearing the big, baby-blue, floppy (and might I add very manly--HA!) hat you bought him. Just kidding. Even at 11.5 months, that kid knows what not to wear.

Hey...mom wanted to get the baby blue hat. I thought it looked a little feminine. Looks like we need to find a baby capatain's hat!
